National Documents
A comprehensive guide to Every Child Matters, which covers a range of services for children from birth to age 19. This includes publications and information on grants. This is the government's approach to ensuring outcomes for every child and provides the framework for much activity with children.

Communities in control: real people, real power was launched on 9 July 2008. This White Paper is about passing power to communities and giving real control and influence to more people.
The key themes are power, influence and control: who has power, on whose behalf is it exercised, how is it held to account, and how can it be diffused throughout the communities we live in. It is about democracy, and how democratic practices and ideals can be applied to our complex, modern society.

Regional Economic Strategy 2006-2020
The East Midlands Regional Economic Strategy sets the framework for ensuring the long term sustainable economic growth of the region. It does this by setting out a vision for the economic future of the region, supported by a range of priorities to ensure the vision is achieved. The strategy is prepared by East Midlands Development Agency (emda)
East Midlands Development Agency (emda) is one of nine Regional Development Agencies in England, set up in 1999 to bring a regional focus to economic development. Itsr primary goal is to increase the economic growth of the region while reducing disparities between the East Midlands and other English regions.
Over the last few years the role of emda has grown considerably and it is now responsible for a delivering a range of policies including around business support and investment, rural development, tourism and culture and sustainable communities. It is also responsible for the delivery of major funding programmes, including the European Regional Development Fund Competitiveness programme and the Rural Development Programme for England.
East Midlands Regional Assembly
The work of the Regional Assembly is based around its 3 roles; Regional Planning Body, co-ordination and integration of regional strategies and, scrutinising the work of the East Midlands Development Agency. . The Assembly currently acts as the regional planning board around Housing, Planning and Transport and co-ordinates regional policy around energy, the environment and health and sustainable development.
